This vintage oak desk manufactured by Abbess in the 1940s/1950s, has been in the same family ever since it became a now 85 year old’s very first office desk. Primarily used as a teacher’s desk, it is a perfect addition to the increasingly popular home office.
Constructed from solid oak and oak veneers, the desk features three solid oak drawers to the left and a single and double height drawer to the right. There is also a large central drawer featuring the Abbess logo. The desk also comes complete with a pull-out writing slide and the original removable stationary tidy.

A beautiful desk that would make a great addition to any vintage/industrial/mid-century inspired interior. It is a great size offering a generous fully functioning desk but not too large to be difficult to position or accommodate. The colour and condition are exactly right for a very stylish work/ study desk and will comfortably fit a couple of monitors if needs be. The bare oak has been protected with OSMO Polyx oil/wax in a semi-matte finish. The deep blue is Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Oxford Navy and has been waxed and buffed to a soft sheen. This makes the desk top hard-wearing and rather tactile with wood and wax warmth.
