This exquisitely crafted carved mahogany sideboard has been upcycled sympathetic to its origins but with a new lightness. The glory is in the lustrous mahogany top which, after years of languishing beneath layers of near-black varnish, has been freed and now dominates the piece – and rightly so. Danish Oil has brought out the grain whilst protecting the wood.

The sideboard measures 155 cm wide, 95 cm high (121 including top) and 55 cm deep.

The main sideboard has been rescued from a dark sombre façade and now has a contemporary finish in a beige/grey paint with clear wax. The carvings, including those on the classic ball and claw feet, have been accentuated with white wax. The original brass drawer pulls and fittings have been revived with Brasso and elbow grease. Inside, the removable shelves have been sanded and finished in Danish Oil and the small cellaret has been revived and painted as was necessary. The top cutlery drawer has been finished with a pop of blue giving a hard-wearing finish.
