From family firm Minty’s of Oxford, this neat bookcase with sliding glass doors has been taken from destitute to delightful with a little paint and imagination.
Height: 89cm, Width 90cm, Depth 30cm
Unable to renovate it to its original bare wood state as was my intention, the cabinet has been given a new façade of stylised birds and flowers, a little like William Morris designs perhaps.
The bookcase / display cabinet has been painted in a calm grey/beige ‘Goose’ from Cornish Mineral Milk Paint and adorned with a transfer of grand flowers, vines and birds. The handles and door runners have been polished to their original copper/rose gold patina – just a little Brasso and effort brought back the shine. The cupboard interiors have been freshened up in a warm white and some wooden legs have been added to give the piece a little extra height.
This gentle country piece of furniture has a beautiful satin topcoat finish for extra protection and durability.
